BECE 2026: Almond College, Lekki Records 100% Pass, 68.4% Distinction
Almond College, Lekki Lagos (School Code: ET0046, LED: Eti-Osa) has recorded an outstanding performance in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) conducted by Lagos State Examinations Board.
All 34 students presented passed the examination, representing 100% pass rate. Out of 339 subject entries, the school recorded 232 A grades (Distinction), representing 68.4% of all results. 84.6% of all grades were A and B, while 94% were credit and above
Five students achieved 10 A’s straight, led by Chukwukadibia Munaechiso Rinnah who scored 6 A1’s with the best aggregate of 16 points.
The result reflects Almond College’s commitment to academic excellence and its motto “…Exceeding Expectations” since EST 2013

SEND PATHWAY- Functional Skills Curriculum (Pearson)
At Almond College Lekki, our Special Needs Pathway follows Pearson Functional Skills. We focus on LIFE SKILLS, INDEPENDENCE and EMPLOYABILITY, not just exams.
Every Child progresses according to their level on the spectrum.
OUR FUNCTIONAL SUBJECTS (SEND Pathway)
1. Functional English (Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills)
Entry 1 – Level 1
• Speaking & Listening: daily conversation, taking turns, phone calls, asking for help
• Reading: signs, labels, recipes, timetables, simple news, safety instructions
• Writing: filling forms, shopping lists, CV, simple letters, WhatsApp messages appropriately
• Progress: Entry 1 > Entry 2 > Entry 3 > Level 1 (linked to JSS1-SS3)
2. Functional Mathematics (Pearson)
• Money: counting, giving change, budgeting for market/cooking
• Time: reading clock, timetables, planning day
• Measures: weighing ingredients (Cooking), measuring fabric (Clothing & Textile)
• Shape, Data, Problem solving linked to real life (e.g., how many metres of Ankara needed?)
3. Functional ICT (Pearson)
• Using mouse/keyboard, safe internet, typing name, Google search, printing
• Microsoft Word: writing simple documents, CV
• PowerPoint: presenting creative work
• Internet Safety – key for safeguarding – taught every term
4. Cooking (Food & Nutrition – Functional)
• Hygiene, washing hands, cleaning as you go, food safety
• Measuring ingredients, simple Nigerian & continental dishes (jollof, sandwiches, pancakes)
• Budgeting, shopping list, using gas/electric safely
• Entry Level Certificate linked to Pearson Home Cooking Skills
5. Clothing & Textile (Functional)
• Identifying fabrics, colours, simple hand stitching, button fixing
• Using sewing machine safely, measuring body, simple alterations
• Designing school aprons, tote bags – linking to Creative Arts & enterprise
• Life skill: washing, ironing, folding, caring for own uniform
6. Creative Arts (Functional)
• Drawing, painting, collage, tie & dye, bead-making
• Designing garden/college displays (as in St Luke’s model)
• Enterprise: making products to sell at school fair – independence & confidence
• Emotional regulation through art & sensory exploration
7. Music (Functional)
• Rhythm, drumming, singing, listening, turn-taking in group
• Using music to regulate emotions, build memory & communication
• Performing at assemblies – confidence, social skills
• Simple instruments, keyboard basics, music ICT apps
8. Physical Education (Functional Movement)
• Coordination, balance, team games, swimming where possible
• Health: knowing body, healthy eating (links to Cooking)
• Emotional regulation: learning to win/lose, manage big feelings
• Adapted for physical needs – all abilities included
